The lyrics were quite difficult, because it was quite specific.

It’s about realising that the thing you hate about a person is the thing that reminds you of yourself, which is why it’s called “The Perfect Pair”.
It was a song I’d never made before—I just really wanted to make something with a bossa-nova-like beat.
It was the first time I also really explored what my voice could do, too.
この歌詞はかなり具体的な内容だったから、書くのが難しかったわ。
人の嫌いな部分っていうのは自分自身の嫌いな部分だって気づくっていう内容で、だからこの曲は「完璧なペア」ってタイトルなの。
今まで作ってこなかったような曲ね、私はとにかくボサノヴァみたいなリズムの曲を作りたかったの。
そしてこの曲は、自分の歌声の可能性を探るっていう初めての試みでもあったわ。
